Relax don't do it.

So I am giving the kids a bath tonight, and Sophie was playing with a watering can. Will desparately wanted to play with it as well. Sophie says her familiar "Sophie's turn."
Not a big surprise. But then she goes on "Just a few seconds Will, RELAX!"
Now where'd she learn that?

Why does this make me smile EVERY time?

Sophie refers to this Sesame Street Character as "Slammy" (for those of you for whom Sesame Street is but a fond or scary memory, his real name is "Slimey")

For Jeff

I think Jeff would appreciate this site. You all might well enjoy it, but Jeff in particular.

So much excitement!

So after putting Will to bed tonight (Sophie and Carly were over at the Cousins') I hear an unusual pitch to the usual early evening screaming that goes on outside our door in the summer. You see we live at the base of a hill, across from an open field, and a small waterfall and stream. So naturally the neighborhood kids congregate outside when the weather permits. They ride their bikes at high speed down the hill, towing people on skates and scooters, and do things kids do. Normally this wouldn't be so bad, I kind of like the sounds of youths. But our street is also home to many daredevil drivers who careen past at 50mph or faster (I think, I've never radar gunned them or anything). I keep expecting to call an ambulence for (a) some drowning kids in the stream or (b) some kids hit by a speeding car.
I forgot about (c) kids crash their wagons going backward getting kicked by one kid so the other goes flying backward into the road right in front of my house.
I didn't see the accident, but when I heard the screaming I went out and saw a kid flopped on the ground with other kids poking him the way kids do. I went out, and checked to see that he was conscious (barely) and ot bleeding (well a little). He has a big (lemon sized) knot on his head. Another adult showed up, and he called 911. I went and got a pillow and blanket for him (it was getting cold... and there is that shock thing... I saw the blanket trick on Emergency 911 in the 70s). Eventually the ambulence showed up and took the little boy away (with our blanket... I did get the bloody pillow back yeah!)
Sigh..
