I made some flash cards for Sophie with a picture of the snack, the first letter of the word in big font (96 arial), and the word(s) spelled out below.
My plan. When it is snack time, we rumage through the kitchen and find what snacks are available. Then give Sophie the pile of cards representing each snack (I have 12 options so far). She will then get to choose her snack. And hopefully she will begin to learn the letters and the words through this positive association.
And it is lesson in making choices from a list of options.

We already ask her what she wants for a snack, but the first thing off her tongue is usually "cookie" which is fine on occasion, but maybe if she saw some other options she might make other choices.
